Perfect Example of Why I Stopped Watching NBA Basketball
When I was younger, I used to watch the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan dominate almost every team in the NBA. In my grade school, there was a large following of Chicago fans and our gym classes often wound up with the class broken in teams of Bulls fans and Knicks fans - we'd use these teams as the basis for all sports, not just basketball. It was fun. Then when I got into high school I was so occupied with playing football and wrestling that I really didn't have the time to watch much basketball. As a result, I wound up not watching any NBA games for a number of years - even though college

Cavs offseason: Risks and rewards
The Cavs offseason is all but over. Barring an unforeseen move (no, Stephen Jackson is not coming to Cleveland), all that's left to do is wait for the start of training camp, and hope that Shaq doesn't suffer a freak reality-show injury. Other than that, we can step back and take a look at the summer that was. And it was extremely active, as Danny Ferry proceeds to build his closing argument to LeBron James in advance of his 2010 free agency. The moves have both risk and reward potential -- some more than others. But if you can't give Ferry credit for anything else, you can certainly give him

Add 73 of 170: One Night Only - Everyone's a Top 20 Player!
Since only 17 NBA Players saw action (professional basketball playing action) last night, that means all of them made the Top 20. I'm sure D-Stern wished there was a little more going on to distract from certain events that made the national news, but the schedule is what it is. Also, why does the media always wonder why the NBA is portrayed poorly in the media? Maybe it's because Diane Sawyer only talks about the NBA when someone in the NBA pulls a gun. I guess that's just the way the news is I mean, you can't make the local news unless you crash a plan, shoot someone, kidnap a kid, or hit so

NBA Rookie Roundup
Don't count Sacramento's Tyreke Evans out of the NBA ROY discussion yet. Hello, December. Now that we are roughly a quarter of the way through the regular season, we can start to assess how this class of rookies is performing. From a Fantasy perspective, this may not be as deep as those classes in years past, but there are still a couple studs and a few diamonds in the rough. These rankings are based on my projection of how they can help your Fantasy team for the rest of the 2009-2010 season. If you are in a keeper league, your strategy obviously changes and there may be a few guys to stash th

Tim Donaghy's claims on trial
Rocky Widner/NBAE/Getty Images Tim Donaghy, disgraced former NBA referee, speaks. Tim Donaghy's book "Personal Foul" is a page-turner. At the heart of the book is a gripping and sad first-hand account of a gambling addiction tearing apart a family, a career and a reputation. To the detriment of his wife, children, job, the legacy of his father and all sense, Tim Donaghy tells of growing increasingly obsessed with the highs of winning. Table games at casinos, poker games with friends, golf games, horse races, football, basketball -- he says he bet on all of it to such an extreme that the mob, t
